Coal mines in Ordos' Uxin Banner are undergoing rapid digital transformation as artificial intelligence and industrial internet technologies are integrated into mining operations.

The banner is implementing Ordos' three-year action plan for AI and MineHarmony applications in the coal sector.

Under a "three-unified" framework – unified architecture, unified standards, and unified data – authorities are building a coal industrial internet system based on advanced technologies, including AI, big data, and MineHarmony.

Bayan'gaole Coal Mine, one of the first pilot sites, has launched an AI platform covering intelligent extraction, equipment coordination, predictive maintenance, safety monitoring, and coal processing. The system supports safer, more efficient, greener, and smarter production.

"With the AI system, the mine is like it has a 'smart brain'", said Qiu Qinglin, deputy director of the electromechanical management department. "It detects equipment failures and unsafe behavior in real time, improving safety and efficiency while reducing downtime."

Uxin Banner is also advancing smart mine construction through tailored planning based on local geological conditions. New mines are required to integrate intelligent systems from the design stage. The banner is strengthening talent development by training professionals with combined mining and IT skills, and using virtual simulation to improve operational capabilities.

Five coal mines in the banner have been included in the first batch of AI and MineHarmony pilot projects.
