Ordos city has emerged as a leading hub for modern coal chemical manufacturing, leveraging its abundant coal resources and a strong industrial base to advance technological innovation and green development.
In recent years, the hub has led to or participated in the formulation of 128 national and international standards, strengthening its influence in the sector. A national-level 5G-enabled factory has been established, accelerating intelligent manufacturing, networked collaboration, customized production, and service-oriented expansion.
Green development has also been a priority. Seven nationally recognized green factories have taken the lead in energy efficiency, resource recycling, and pollution control, helping drive the entire industrial chain toward a low-carbon and circular model.
The cluster is rapidly strengthening its innovation ecosystem. High-level research platforms, including a laboratory jointly established with Tsinghua University and an energy research institute with Peking University, have been launched. Leading enterprises such as Erdos Group and Yitai Group have also invested in building enterprise-level R&D centers.
The cluster has also fostered a diversified and competitive corporate ecosystem. It is home to four companies listed among China's top 500 manufacturing enterprises, two national single-product champions, four "little giant" technologically advanced enterprises, 60 national science and innovation-oriented small-and medium-sized enterprises, and 75 high-tech enterprises. This multi-tiered structure is providing strong support for the sector's move toward higher-end, branded, and sustainable development.
