A bridal outfit of the Maonan ethnic group from Hechi's Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county made a striking appearance at the 2026 China Fashion Week (Spring) held in Beijing in late March.
On March 27, a special collection showcasing the traditional bridal attire of all 56 Chinese ethnic groups was held at the fashion week. The Maonan costume, originating from Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county of Hechi, stood out for its distinctive intangible cultural heritage elements.
The outfit integrates hand-woven homespun textiles, delicate Maonan brocade techniques and iconic flower bamboo hats. It combines authentic ethnic craftsmanship with modern fashion design, fully displaying the unique aesthetic and cultural charm of the Maonan people.
The presentation received wide acclaim from designers, media and spectators at the event. It marked a key moment for Hechi’s ethnic culture to reach a national and international audience.
By bringing time-honored ethnic heritage to the global fashion stage, the event promotes cultural heritage and innovation. It also enhances the visibility of Guangxi's diverse ethnic culture and supports cross-cultural communication worldwide.
