First national-level biomanufacturing industry competition lands in Hohhot

The 2026 National Disruptive Technology Innovation Competition Biomanufacturing Championship was launched in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on March 22. This competition was jointly guided by the Jingjinji National Center of Technology Innovation and the Inner Mongolia Department of Science and Technology.

It is the first time the National Disruptive Technology Innovation Competition has been held in a prefecture-level city outside major innovation hubs like Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen. It focuses on three core tracks of biomanufacturing: foundational technologies in synthetic biology, intelligent equipment and processes, and application expansion.

The competition widely solicits top innovative projects from across the country, aiming to gather high-end talent and quality innovation resources in the field of biomanufacturing, thereby supporting the high-quality development of Hohhot.

At the event, several significant achievements were unveiled: the signing of the Inner Mongolia joint project under the National Key R&D Program's Disruptive Technology Innovation Key Special Project, the launch of the second phase of Hohhot's Disruptive Technology Special Fund, the implementation of four disruptive technology projects, and the reservation of nine projects for potential fund investment.

Hohhot has gathered over 100 biopharmaceutical-related enterprises. It has attracted high-potential tech companies such as Jinhai, and has established the world's largest foot-and-mouth disease vaccine base, as well as production bases for avermectin and xanthan gum. The production of products like chlortetracycline and coenzyme Q10 ranks first in the world.
