The Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum is now holding a special exhibition on the southward evacuation of the Palace Museum's collections during wartime in the 1930s. First arriving in Nanjing and Shanghai then to their final refuge in Chongqing, the artifacts traveled thousands of kilometers under bombardment and hardship. Behind them was the story of people who risked their lives to protect the cultural heritage of China.
