Rose-red salt lake in Shanxi

A stunning sight unfolded at a salt lake in Yuncheng, Shanxi province on Wednesday. Parts of the lake turned beautiful rose-red thanks to Dunaliella Salina, a unique microalgae. Under specific conditions, hemoglobin is produced, giving the algae a red hue and creating this breathtaking natural spectacle.
