The special exhibition Danqing across Cultures: The Artistic World of Giuseppe Castiglione has just opened at the Shenyang Museum! Born in Italy, Castiglione (1688-1766) served as a court painter for three Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) emperors—Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong—leaving an indelible mark on Chinese art.
Over 300 years ago, Castiglione traveled from distant Europe to the East, where he bridged Eastern and Western cultures through his masterful brushwork. His legacy endures as a symbol of cultural exchange and mutual inspiration.
