Qinzhou opens South China's 1st manganese silicon futures warehouse

On May 30, Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange approved for Guangxi Qinzhou Bonded Port Development and Investment to establish a manganese silicon futures delivery warehouse, which will carry out the future delivery of ferrosilicon and manganese-silicon starting from Aug 20.

This will be the first manganese silicon futures delivery warehouse in southern China, and it will settle in the Qinzhou Port area of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ).

The warehouse is an important link between the futures market and the spot market, and its establishment will allow the futures market to serve industries.

Future exchanges by the warehouse will feature receipts that are highly standardized. They will meet the needs of real enterprises in futures trading, risk management and delivery by setting up futures delivery repositories in appropriate production and marketing areas.

In November 2022, the Beibu Gulf's bulk commodity trading platform completed a total transaction volume of 2.3 billion yuan ($324 million), an online fund settlement of 1.19 billion yuan, and a physical delivery of 2.18 million metric tons of goods. With 68 registered member enterprises, the platform continues to cultivate advantages for cross-border supply chain services for bulk commodities. This includes platform financing, time and cash linkage, bonded trading, offshore trade and cross-border settlement.

Guangxi Qinzhou Bonded Port Area Development and Investment successfully obtained the approval to establish its manganese-silicon delivery warehouse after nine months of careful organization and a series of processes such as qualification examinations, warehouse facilities and equipment improvement and on-site verification.
