Dynamic decade: Huangshan has made remarkable achievements

Huangshan city in Anhui province has seen remarkable changes in economic growth, environmental protection and social development over the past decade, according to a series of press conferences held by the information office of the Huangshan municipal government on Oct 11.

The sustained efforts made by Huangshan to improve its economy over the past decade has paid dividends. The gross regional product or GDP of the city reached 95.74 billion yuan ($13.36 billion) in 2021, more than doubling that of 2012.

In 2021, Huangshan's growth rate was 9.1 percent, 0.8 percentage points higher than that of the whole province and ranking seventh provincially – its best ranking since 2004.

The total output value of agriculture increased from 8.20 billion yuan in 2012 to 12.40 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 3.7 percent.

The city's industrial added value increased from 13.51 billion yuan in 2012 to 22.76 billion yuan in 2021.

Moreover, the added value of the city's service industry increased from 19.41 billion yuan in 2012 to 54.18 billion yuan in 2021, the second highest proportion of GDP in the province, with an average annual growth rate of 8.2 percent.

Concerned efforts had been put into Huangshan's green development and the quality of its ecological environment continues to lead in China.

For example, the percentage of days with good air quality was 99.7 in 2021, ranking third among 168 key cities in China and first in the province.

In addition, people's living standards, the public health system and scientific and technological research and development capability have improved significantly.
