Written and translated in 1980s, the team recreated the script to suit the taste of today's Chinese audience so as to "let audience enjoy a foreign production of which the story is not foreign"all the while maintaining its original flavor, explained the director.
Beijing People's Art Theatre's production of The Bench runs through Oct 7.
Guan Hui works at the Acting Department of Beijing People's Art Theatre. As a member of China Theatre Association, Guan has translated a number of well-known drama productions.
