Produced by the Shanghai Peking Opera Theater, the new version of the classical piece The Wulong Courtyard was staged last night at the Zijin Grand Theater in Nanjing, Jiangsu province in competition for the Plum Performance Award. It is based on an excerpt of the novel Water Margin, which depicts the full story of Song Jiang killing his evil concubine Yan Xijiao.
