Hot air balloons crowd the skies over Pingtan

The balloon festival, jointly sponsored by the administrative committee of Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone and the Pingtan bureau of tourism development, is part of a series of cultural events designed to turn the group of islands in the Taiwan Strait into an international tourist destination.

A series of concerts, part of the fiesta'supporting activities, is scheduled to be held on the Longfengtou Beach in Pingtan from May 6 to 7. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]
